If you’re considering a five-star resort in Koh Samui that blends modern design with tiered pools, private beachfront pockets, and a laid-back club experience, Hyatt Regency Koh Samui is worth looking at. We stayed here for 1 night to experience the luxury of a 5-star resort. It didn’t disappoint, although the weather was not kind to us, as it rained most of the day. You have to expect that when visiting Thailand during the wet season, but the temperature was comfortable despite the rain. Located about 10 minutes from Samui International Airport, this 2021-opened property offers 140 rooms, including 17 suites and seven beachfront villas. We found plenty to enjoy—from the sweeping ocean views to the cleverly designed pool decks and the relaxing Regency Club. Overall, Hyatt Regency Koh Samui provides an exceptional environment for a memorable vacation.

Hyatt Regency Reception Koh Samui

First Impressions and Check-In

You might miss the entrance if you’re not looking closely. Discreet signage and plain concrete walls give little away, but once you step inside, the mood shifts. The lobby is long, atmospheric, and warmly lit with modern furnishings and twin semi-circular reception desks. Check-in was smooth and friendly; the team’s English proficiency made everything effortless. You’ll also find direct access from the lobby to the spa, fitness centre, restaurant, and gardens.

Hyatt Regency Koh Samui King Bed

The King Ocean View Room

We booked a King Ocean View and upgraded to the Regency Club using Hyatt points. The room is a standout for space and comfort—anchored by one of the largest king beds we’ve seen. A good-sized balcony overlooks the gardens and ocean views. It’s perfect for morning coffee or sunset unwinding. The bathroom runs long and narrow, with modern lighting and a separate toilet. Quality fixtures and a contemporary soaking bathtub positioned to catch those views are highlights. Storage is practical, with tech and charging points that are traveller-friendly.

Dining: Yangna and Sea Sun Grill

Yangna is the main restaurant, featuring indoor seating and a covered outdoor deck overlooking the primary infinity pool. Even in wet weather, you can dine al fresco without getting drenched. The bar program is solid and the setting serene. Further down the path is the Sea Sun Grill and Beach Bar—clearly designed for sunny days and lingering lunches. On fine weather days, this spot would be a social magnet. The breakfast buffet is impressive, with no shortage of western or Thai dishes to choose from. Coupled with the ocean views, it deserves its 5-star rating.

The dining experience at Hyatt Regency Koh Samui is truly remarkable, ensuring that guests have a memorable culinary journey throughout their stay.

Hyatt Regency Beach Koh Samui

Pools and Beach

This resort is a multi-level aquatic design:

  • Main infinity pool: The social centrepiece near the lobby, paired with a children’s pool.
  • Mid-level infinity pool: Overlooks the cascading waterfall effect from above and includes in-water seating nooks.
  • Lower, beach-adjacent pool: Eye-catching by day, rainbow-lit by night.

The beach itself is small, with coarser sand than powder-soft stretches elsewhere on the island. There are about 10 sun loungers; on sunny days, you’ll want to arrive early to claim one. Even with rain, the layered pool decks maintain a resorty, photogenic vibe.

Regency Club Koh Samui

Regency Club

Tucked within the gardens, the Regency Club is a calm retreat with the benefits that elevate a stay: breakfast, daytime refreshments, and evening wines and canapés. It’s a well laid out club environment and ideal for reading, remote work sessions, or a pre-dinner unwind.

Gym Hyatt Regency Koh Samui

Spa and Fitness

Accessed from the main reception area, the spa menu targets travellers seeking classic Thai therapies and post-flight recovery. The fitness centre, while serviceable for a few guests at a time, doesn’t quite match the scale or wow-factor of the rest of the resort. The equipment is modern and new, but the gym itself can feel cramped with more than a handful of people.

Hyatt Regency paths and gardens Koh Samui

Getting Around the Hyatt Regency Koh Samui

The property’s paths are thoughtfully laid out. This makes it easy to walk between facilities. Resort buggies also circulate frequently, which is especially handy in rain or for families with small children.

Who It’s For

  • Hyatt Regency Koh Samui is a perfect spot for travellers looking to create unforgettable memories.
  • Families looking for premium service, facilities, and activities for children.
  • Couples who value ocean views, modern design, and a chill club lounge
  • Hyatt loyalists looking to leverage points for room or club upgrades

Tips and Good-to-Know

  • Weather: Koh Samui’s best weather typically runs from late December to April; expect rain in the monsoon periods, but covered outdoor spaces still let you enjoy the views.
  • Loungers: On sunny days, beach loungers are limited—arrive early.
  • Points & Perks: If you’ve got Hyatt points or elite status, the Regency Club access is a worthwhile upgrade.
  • Nearby: The airport is about 10 minutes away; popular dining and shopping areas are a short drive, but the resort feels pleasantly insulated from the crowds.

Bottom Line

Hyatt Regency Koh Samui impressed with layered pool designs, soothing ocean views, and a comfortable room product that feels fresh and well-considered. The beach is modest, and the gym could be stronger. However, for families and couples seeking a refined, modern base with the option of club lounge perks, it’s an excellent contender.

In summary, Hyatt Regency Koh Samui stands out for its unique offerings and attentive service that cater to all types of travellers seeking relaxation and luxury.

How We Calculate Our Rating

Our score is out of 10 and based on:

Location & convenience – 30%

Room Quality & cleanliness – 30%

Facilities & services – 25%

Dining – 15%

We do not take price (value for money) into our calculations, as rates can differ substantially depending on when you go. If you travel in peak season, then expect to pay the highest rates, but it does not (or should not) change the quality of the hotel. If we give it a rating of 8.0 or higher, we would consider staying again.
TBA – means we have not stayed at this hotel but have booked for a future visit or included in our research as a suggested place to stay
